It's not easy to describe Freebird other than it is more like an experience than a song. Freebird is arguably the greatest rock anthem ever written. Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird is what you get when you mix great lyrics, guitar licks that will blow your mind, and a whole lot of southern soul. This is the song that can bring a crowd of 100,000 people to a silent stand still during its mesmerizing intro and then that same crowd into rock and roll hysteria by songs end. Even with the tragic death of several members of the band and crew in 1977 - this song and the Skynyrd legacy continues "travelin on, now."
